I get the odd ticket saying that, uploading videos with the space upgrade: “…once the file upload is complete I get the following error: This video could not be processed because the codec is not supported.”

The forums don’t seem to have answers. It sure would be nice to know which codecs are supported by the .avi (and others) wrapper.

We require purchasing space upgrade in order to upload video to blogs. I think we need to figure out displaying this requirements earlier in the upload process.

“This video could not be processed because the codec is not supported.” – we already list the supported codec on the upload screen. However, a very small percentage (about 2%) of videos can not be processed by our backend transcoder. We rely on ffmpeg to transcode videos. In some cases we can probably improve our ffmpeg to handle the failure cases better.
This is work-in-progress: Barry and I need examine the failure cases, and fine tune ffmpeg to see whether we can transcode them.
